How Does It Work?

According to their website, the very first thing that any potential borrower must do when working with DollarsDirect.ca is to determine whether or not it is “absolutely necessary” that the borrow funds at this time. Their website states that since payday loans carry high interest rates, borrowers should make sure that a payday loan is their only or best option before they commit to borrowing. 

Once you determine that borrowing from DollarsDirect.ca is truly your best option, you must also fulfill their borrower requirements before you can borrow: you will be required to be at least 18 years old, a resident of Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan or British Columbia, have been employed for at least one pay cycle and have a pay slip to prove it, and have an active checking account into which your money can be deposited. 

Cost/Price Plans

As with any other loan, the amount of fees you pay ultimately depend on the amount of money you borrow, which is limited to $500 for the first time you borrow and up to $1,500 for subsequent loans if you are approved. 

There will be a $20 fee added to any late payment that is made, though there will be no fee or penalty for borrowers who decide to pay their loan off early. In addition, this website provides you with a $50 credit if you successfully refer a friend to their website. 

Finally, the website says that if you are a resident of Ontario, you will be charged a fee of $21 for every $100 borrowed; if you are a resident of either British Columbia, Saskatchewan or Alberta, you will be charged a fee of $23 for every $100 borrowed. 

In addition, if you have been provided with a discount code, this code must be provided when you fill out your application in order to receive that discount – it cannot be retroactively applied. 

Refund Policy

Financial arrangements like loans of any term length do not typically provide a traditional Refund Policy for their customers. Instead, they may offer a clause in the loan agreement which provides a short length of time in which customers can back out of loan agreements by returning the principal of the borrowed money without receiving a financial penalty, but this depends on the lender.

The reason that even DollarsDirect warns customers against using payday loans is that they create a system of borrowing where the average borrower will be unable to sufficiently and successfully repay the loan in the time allotted and with the required fees.

This then creates a cycle where the person who needed to borrow money for an emergency situation is now in circumstances of long term debt that is increasingly difficult to pay off.

It appears that the general consensus regarding payday loan lenders of any kind is exactly what this website says – to avoid them entirely and to find other means of borrowing money or to negotiate repayment terms with whatever organization to which you owe money that will not require you to work with a short term lending organization like this.
